Carlos Alcaraz is ready to take the world by storm in 2024 after only managing to secure one Grand Slam in 2023.
Alcaraz enjoyed a great start to 2023 but he failed to maintain the level and dropped down massively after his triumph in London, where he clinched Wimbledon 2023 beating Novak Djokovic.
Typically, players participate in several major events with occasional smaller ones in between. In the case of Alcaraz, he tends to skip any preparation events before the Australian Open and make his return there.
It will be interesting to see how this strategy works out for him, as he has generally played at least one preparation event before a Grand Slam every time. After the Australian Open, Alcaraz will take a brief break before heading to Buenos Aires for the Argentina Open.
Following that, he will play in the Rio Open the following week, just as he did last year. It is a favourable location for him, having won in Buenos Aires last year and nearly clinching victory in Rio. After these events, March presents a relatively straightforward schedule.
Two significant ATP Masters 1000 events are on the horizon, with Alcaraz participating in both. First, the Indian Wells Masters, followed by the Miami Masters.
Interestingly, he is opting for South America once again instead of the Middle East, possibly influenced by the clay surface, where he has shown dominance. Additionally, these events generally have a weaker entry list, making it somewhat easier to secure victories.
It must be noted that Alcaraz will be without his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero as he is recovering from an arthroscopy on his left knee due to which he will not be able to travel alongside the rising star. He is to remain on the sidelines and will join Alcaraz in the Masters 1000 in Indiana Wells from March 6 to 17.
Alcaraz, accompanied by his agent Alberto Molina, is set to participate in an exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, a change in coaching personnel is on the horizon as Samuel Lopez is expected to take on the role of coach for the Australian Open.
